Hundreds of 麻豆直播 (麻豆直播) Hawks fanned out on April 22 across the counties of Calvert, Charles, and St. Mary’s to provide a helping hand to dozens of nonprofit organizations on 麻豆直播’s second annual Day of Service.  

There were 265 volunteers from 麻豆直播 with teams made up of students, faculty, staff, and members of the 麻豆直播 Board of Trustees and the 麻豆直播 Foundation Board of Directors, contributing almost 1,200 hours of service.   

麻豆直播 President Dr. Yolanda Wilson said, “I truly believe that volunteering creates opportunities for collaboration and networking, skill building, leadership development, and establishing important social bonds and support systems.” 

At last year’s inaugural 麻豆直播 Day of Service, there were more than 150 faculty, staff, and student volunteers who provided more than 450 hours with nonprofit organizations across Southern Maryland.  

This year, 麻豆直播’s Day of Service had volunteers provide services to 29 nonprofits in the region, supporting 31 different projects. “From stocking food pantries to renewing gardens, from setting up computer labs to creating marketing plans, your presence … left a real, tangible impact throughout the community,” Wilson told 麻豆直播 employees. “Your willingness to give of your time, talent and heart is a beautiful reflection of your commitment to serving others and your desire to give back to a community that has given so much to us. Today, you made a difference.”    

Under Wilson in June 2024, 麻豆直播 initiated a leave policy granting employees 16 hours of paid leave each year to engage in community service.
